MAA 2014 Retreat

This year's retreat set in Traverse City, Michigan offers a variety of experiences to take in the beauty of the Great Lakes.  Grand Traverse Bay is just steps outside the hotel doors, walking distance to town and restaurants, shopping and nightlife.  Included in this year's retreat is an option to participate in a wine tasting tour of Old Mission Peninsula, home of award winning Michigan wineries.  


Robert EvansRobert Evans is a clinical and organizational psychologist and the Executive Director of The Human Relations Service in Wellesley, Massachusetts.  A former high school and pre-school teacher, he has consulted in schools throughout the U.S. and internationally.  Rob received his undergraduate degree from Princeton and his Doctorate from Harvard.  

Metta McGarveyMetta McGarvey is co-chair of Inner Strengths of Successful Leaders, Programs in Professional Education, Harvard Graduate School of Education; and is developing an Academy of Contemplative and Ethical Leadership for the Mind and Life Institute in Hadley, MA.  Metta is an Adult Developmental Psychologist with two prior degrees in Buddhist Studies specializing in the transformational potential of mindfulness training and reflective practices.

MAA Membership 

Our Mission:  To support the administration of Montessori schools by providing opportunities for renewal, networking, continuing education, and the exchange of ideas and experiences;  address the staffing needs of Montessori schools by supporting AMI Training Centers, Teacher Trainers and Trainers-in-training, as well as recruiting candidates for teacher-training; and work in partnership with AMI and the AMI training centers to promote children's issues and a greater understanding of the Montessori approach to education as an "aid to life."

Membership benefits include access to and participation in MAA's Google discussion group as well as discounts at MAA's annual retreat.  In addition, school membership benefits include a listing in the "Find a School" section of Mariamontessori.com, access to the "member's only" section of the MAA website and access to mentorship.
