In The Know:
New! Spirit Wear Swap
Because everyone loves Spirit Fridays and children grow fast, a group of parents have set up a Spirit Wear Swap in the coat room adjacent to the front desk. Leave an item your child has outgrown and take something that fits! Stop by anytime. (And while you’re here, be sure to check the Lost and Found for items your child could be missing.)
Horizon Books Day, November 13
Horizon Books will host our annual book fair AND give a percentage of all sales that day directly to The Children’s House - even when you purchase gift certificates! This annual book sale helps build our school library and collection of books in each classroom.
- Stop by our table at Horizon Books to purchase pre-selected books for your child’s classroom between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday, November 13
- Shop now from these wishlists
- Purchase a gift certificate (in person or by phone) for your classroom and your child’s guide will purchase the books they want.
Thank you to TCH parents Lauren Magnatta, Carrie Goodreau, and Summer Hennessy for decorating the window and organizing the book fair!
Shop Your Community Day, November 13
Support The Children’s House on Saturday, November 13 just by shopping in Downtown TC! For every purchase you make at participating stores, 15% of the sale will be donated to the non-profit of your choice - please select The Children’s House when you check-out! We were selected as one of the 30 non-profits because we consistently have one of the highest donation amounts at the end of the day. Let’s keep this trend going! Learn more here.
Check it out! Round Table Discussion: Tech Reset, moderated by Lisa Thauvette
Nov. 15 at 4 p.m. for parents of Nido, YCC, and Primary children
In-person at The Children’s House in the gym
For many of us, digital technology has crept into our homes more than we’d like since the start of the pandemic. If you’d like to redefine the presence and usage of screens in your household, come learn from other families who are also working toward healthier digital tech habits. We had a great discussion Thursday evening with parents of older children - if you missed it, you are welcome to attend this discussion.
Sock Drive, now through Nov 19
CHiPA is proudly collaborating with the Boots for Kids organization to ensure every child in the region has warm winter gear. This year, we have committed to support this effort by donating thick cotton crew socks for infants (5-13 shoe size) and youth (1-7 shoe size). Your child may deliver socks to the basket at the Front Desk, Nov. 8 - 19.
Winter Team Sports and Afterschool Clubs
Battle of the Books is a book-based quiz competition for fourth and fifth graders in the Grand Traverse community. Participants read incredible stories together and then experience heart-pounding moments in competition. Teams begin reading in late November and the final "battle" happens in March. To form a team and for more information, contact Julie Boss by November 6.
The Crystal Mountain School Program, including student season passes, is available for children ages 7 and up. Sign up November 1 - 22. For more information and to sign up, contact TCH parent Mary Schiller.
