Joyful learners abound in every classroom at The Children’s House. You can see students happily skipping across the room, some fiercely engaged in their work, while others banter over the nuisances of their more...
Other Notes:
NEW! Spring Break Childcare
Thank you for your feedback on our survey. Spring Break childcare will be provided. If you have already told us you will be participating, Kim will confirm your schedule directly with you. If you did not respond to the survey that you needed childcare and find in the next couple of weeks that it becomes necessary for your family, please reach out to Kim Gallagher, kim@traversechildrenshouse.org for availability.
NEW! Family Fun Challenges
We are all hopeful for a more normal time when we can gather and get to know all of the members of our school community better. But until we can do that safely, CHiPA is proposing some Family Fun Challenges that we can share on The Children’s House Community Facebook page.
Our first challenge will be to build a snowman and share a photo or two! With all of the snow in the forecast, we thought this would be a good activity to start with. And...go! Future challenges will be posted in the Compass and on the TCH Community Facebook page.
Jr High Student Business
Hello TCH families!
We are continuing our TCH Organics business which was started last year. We are still figuring out what products to sell, but we have decided on selling lettuce and basil for now. We may add radishes in the near future. We will let you know when we make any further decisions. If you are interested in learning more about our business, email us and we will get back to you on any questions you may have: xoa.thelen@tchlearners.org

With the harsh economic impact of COVID-19, it is more important than ever to support TCH family-owned restaurants and businesses. Visit our directory of TCH family-owned businesses in the Parent Portal. If you own a business and are not listed, please let us know by completing this Google form.

Update: Masks must sufficiently cover noses and mouths and be made of at least two layers and tightly woven. Masks with exhalation valves or vents are not permitted.
Gym Use Update: Thanks to a well-connected parent, we were able to purchase a large air purifier for the gym at an affordable price!
When the indoor youth sports restriction was lifted on January 16, we proceeded with our gym rentals for two local volleyball groups. One group uses our gym on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings and the other uses it on Saturday mornings. As with every decision we’ve made this year, renting the gym to these two groups was thoroughly vetted of its COVID impact on our school. Dr. Edgren determined that this posed minimal risk to our community. We’ve also ensured that both groups are following all MDHHS guidelines on masking and group size.
TCH Inclement Weather Policy:
TCH Administration determines school delays and closings with the assistance of TCH outdoor services provider, Chris Danbrook. Parents will receive an email by 7:00 a.m. (or earlier if possible) notifying them of the delay or closure. The information will also be posted on the school’s website 7:00 a.m. Please note that TCH will not automatically follow the closure decisions of TCAPS and NMC.
Sign up for text alerts: In addition to an email alerting you about school closings and delays, we notify parents by text message via Remind. Simply download the Remind app to your mobile device and set up an account. Then, Text @hg6c3f2 to the number 81010. You will receive a welcome text from Remind. The class is titled TCH Parent Community.
