The Children’s House encourages participation in outdoor sports this school year. We plan to have a track team in the spring depending on the league status. In the meantime, we will share opportunities for winter activities such as Nordic and alpine skiing and snowboarding at Crystal Mountain, Mt. Holiday, Grand Traverse Ski Club at Hickory Hills, and VASA Ski Club. Visit our extracurricular webpage to learn more.

Points of Interest:

Montessori and the Multi-Aged Classroom
By Karin Church
When our daughter joined The Children’s House at sixteen months, one of the biggest takeaways from our initial visit was how very capable she already was at this young age and more...

Other Notes:

Spring Break Childcare
Childcare is being provided for families who find it is necessary this year. Maintaining the COVID protocols with Spring Break staffing presents a challenge, so if other arrangements are available for your child, please consider them.  If you haven't already, please notify Kim Gallagher, kim@traversechildrenshouse.org of your childcare needs by February 15th. Requests received after this date cannot be accomodated.

Parent Teacher Conferences - Sign Up Here
March 8-12
Conferences are an important connection point for your child’s guide and you to have a conversation about your child at school. In order to conduct conferences safely, all conferences will be conducted on Zoom. After the sign-up period, your child’s guide will send you a link to your conference. If you do not have Zoom capabilities, please contact us and we will help make a conference accessible for you. Your child’s guide looks forward to connecting with you. Please make sure you sign up, and come prepared with any questions you might have about your child’s school experience.

Family Fun Challenges
We are all hopeful for a more normal time when we can gather and get to know all of the members of our school community better. But until we can do that safely, CHiPA is proposing some Family Fun Challenges that we can share on The Children’s House Community Facebook page.

The current Family Fun Challenge is to play in the snow! Bundle up and build a snowman, make a snow angel, make a snow fort, etc. With all of the fresh snow, we thought this would be a good activity to start with. And...go! Don’t forget to share a photo or two on the TCH Community Facebook page.

PadletSharing our Gratitude
Please take a moment to read what others have shared on our Gratitude Padlet. To add your gratitude, just click on the + button in the lower right corner of the Padlet.

Parent Business Directory
With the harsh economic impact of COVID-19, it is more important than ever to support TCH family-owned restaurants and businesses. Visit our directory of TCH family-owned businesses in the Parent Portal. If you own a business and are not listed, please let us know by completing this Google form.
