2019 Gala Wrap Up

Thank you for making it a success!

The 2019 gala, A Celestial Celebration, was a beautiful evening and successful fundraiser for our school. More than 160 Children's House parents, staff, and friends attended the special event on March 8.
Gala Reception

The event started with a reception and time to peruse the silent auction tables. The silent auction featured over 180 items from local businesses, artists, and classroom families. Sincere thanks to Misha Neidorfler for chairing the event, Bob and Shelly Derrer for chairing the silent auction, Brittany Luea for the beautiful decorations, and all of the volunteers who helped transform the gym.

Gala Dinner

A delectable dinner was served at four stations and prepared by the amazing chefs at The Cooks' House. Jen Blakeslee and Eric Patterson spoiled us with caviar, leg of lamb, mussels, crepes, and specialty cheeses. Our friends at Morsels, The Workshop, and Select Fine Wine paired dessert and beverages perfectly with the European themed meal.

Gala Welcome

The program began with a welcome from the outgoing president of the board, Jessica Sullivan. Michele Shane, Head of School, thanked Jessica for her six years of dedicated service and leadership. Ryan Sullivan and Jen Lake took the stage and kicked off the program with the raffle drawing. And the winners were…

1st Prize (more than $10,000!) Christine Lindsay
2nd Prize ($1,500) Betsy Fisher
3rd Prize (iPad mini) The Pomaranski Family

Thanks to everyone who purchased tickets and sold to their friends and family. Special thanks to Ryan for chairing the raffle and all the dads who committed to selling tickets over the winter.

Live Auction

The live auction began with a bidding war over a Moomers Golden Ticket - which sold for $120! With everyone warmed up, Ryan and Jen auctioned off ten big-ticket items including tickets to see Justin Timberlake and Rolling Stones, a chartered fishing trip with Chad Beers, an Italian dinner prepared by our own Anna Foulkrod, and even a day with Steve Maas. In all, the live auction raised $42,370! Thank you to everyone who bid and cheered!

Skarshaug Family

This year, we featured alumna Sara Skarshaug in a video interview. Her moving story about how her Montessori education has shaped who she is today reminded us all why we were in the room raising money for The Children’s House. Several bursts of applause happened throughout the video and at the end, there was an immediate standing ovation. You can watch the video below.

Jen Lake transitioned the applause into a paddle raise starting at the $2,500 level. Special thanks to Mary Morrisey and Joe Dickey for providing a match for the first 10 gifts of $250 and to an anonymous donor for providing a match for the first 10 gifts of $100. Both matches were met and the paddle raise earned a total of $20,450!
