In The Know:

Bright Futures Fund logoNew! Announcing our Bright Futures Fund & Gala
Our Bright Futures Fund supports our school - the people and the physical space - now and well into the future. Save the date to celebrate with us at our Bright Futures Gala at Historic Barns Park on Friday, April 21, 2023. We will be actively fundraising until we reach our goal of $175,000 this school year. Please consider making your pledge early in the school year. Did you know that our main campus opened in 2002 and now, twenty years later, we expanded to include our Park Street Campus? There is much to celebrate this year - be a part of our history and our future by supporting our Bright Futures Fund & Gala! Pledge your support today

New! Battle of the Books, for 4th and 5th years
This is a program that takes place from December until the competition in March. It is a great way to get children reading and being part of a team. Each team has 4-6 members and read either 5 books or 10 books. The books are chosen by The Battle of the Books committee and range from novels to graphic novels. Visit the Battle of the Books website more information.

Deadline to register: Monday, Nov. 21. Please reach out to Julie Boss (248-535-1713 or at boss.julie4boys@yahoo.com) if your child is interested and if you are interested in coaching a team. I can help any new coach! It is really fun!

Updated! Winter Sports
Registration is now open for basketball, wrestling, volleyball and skiing. Visit our extracurriculars page for more information.

Sock Drive, Nov 7- 18
CHiPA is proudly collaborating with the Boots for Kids organization to ensure every child in the region has warm winter gear. This year, we have committed to support this effort by donating thick cotton crew socks for infants (5-13 shoe size) and youth (1-7 shoe size). Your child may deliver socks to the basket at the Front Desk, Nov. 7 - 18.

Horizon Books Day, November 12
Horizon Books will host our annual book fair AND give 10% of all sales that day directly to The Children’s House - even when you purchase gift certificates! This annual book sale helps build our school library and collection of books in each classroom. Volunteers are still needed, sign up here

Shop Your Community Day, November 12
Support The Children’s House on Saturday, November 12 just by shopping in Downtown TC! For every purchase you make at participating stores, 15% of the sale will be donated to the non-profit of your choice - please select The Children’s House when you check-out! We were selected as one of the 30 non-profits because we consistently have one of the highest donation amounts at the end of the day. Let’s keep this trend going! Learn more here.

Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day, November 14
"Six-year-old Ruby Bridges stepped into the history books in 1960 when she integrated William Frantz Elementary School in New Orleans becoming a national icon for the civil rights movement. Today her story continues to inspire the next generation of leaders to end racism together one step at a time."
- Ruby Bridges Foundation

On Monday, November 14, we want to celebrate Ruby Bridges because she changed the world and we can too. The children from Karin's Upper Elementary class will visit each classroom in teams of two to share this idea. Each class will choose to do a project to celebrate her brave action of walking to school and making the world a better place. This year-long project will honor her and share her message of fighting racism and preventing bullying.  - Mark, Fletcher and Claire

TCH Inclement Weather Policy:
TCH Administration determines school delays and closings with the assistance of TCH outdoor services provider, Chris Danbrook. Parents will receive an email by 7:00 a.m. (or earlier if possible) notifying them of the delay or closure. The information will also be posted on the school’s website at 7:00 a.m. Please note that TCH will not automatically follow the closure decisions of TCAPS and NMC.

Sign up for text alerts:  In addition to an email alerting you about school closings and delays, we notify parents by text message via Remind. Simply download the Remind app (Android / Apple) to your mobile device and set up an account. Then, Text @hg6c3f2 to the number 81010. You will receive a welcome text from Remind. The class is titled TCH Parent Community.
