Over the summer, we made changes to the school-year calendar to support professional development and necessary collaborative work among our staff. Spirit Wear Store + Dance of the Cosmos Graphic Tee
We are launching a brand new offering this year! Brad Kik, a Children's House parent, designed a Dance of the Cosmos graphic tee to celebrate our special end-of-the-year ceremony that is unique to our school. This design is only available for the 2023-24 school year! Get ready to show your school spirit each Friday. Place your order online by Sunday, October 15.
School Picture Day is Tuesday, October 17th!
You should have received your flyers from your students by now. That said, Timeless Image encourages you to use this link, or the QR code on your paper registration, to order photos electronically. The online school code for The Children’s House is 9823. Of course, we will also always take the cash envelopes if you prefer to order that way. You can order via this link starting now up until 3 days after retake day, which is set for Tuesday, November 14.
Update! Fall Festival Fun
Thank you to all the parents and students who volunteered to make the Fall Festival a huge success. We would like to give a special thanks to Andrea Deibler, Kitchen Director, for providing the delicious community meal, and Emily Stewart, TCH Parent and owner of Modern Bird, for making and donating the pumpkin pies. After the shared meal, the weather permitted for fun, games and activities in the courtyard!

New! Parent Teacher Conferences, November 9 - 10
Parent Teacher Conferences are an important (and required) opportunity for you to talk with your child’s guide about your child’s classroom experience and progress. This is one way that we partner with you to raise exceptional learners. Sign-up will open next week with 30-minute time slots available in the evening on November 9 and all day on November 10.
New! Horizon Books Day, November 11
Horizon Books will host our annual book fair AND give 10% of all sales that day directly to The Children’s House - even when you purchase gift certificates! This annual book sale helps build our school library and collection of books in each classroom. Volunteers are needed, sign up here!
New! Shop Your Community Day, November 11
Support The Children’s House on Saturday, November 11 just by shopping in Downtown TC! For every purchase you make at participating stores, 15% of the sale will be donated to the non-profit of your choice - please select The Children’s House when you check-out! We were selected as one of the 30 non-profits because we consistently have one of the highest donation amounts at the end of the day. Let’s keep this trend going! Learn more here.
New! Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day, November 14
"Six-year-old Ruby Bridges stepped into the history books in 1960 when she integrated William Frantz Elementary School in New Orleans becoming a national icon for the civil rights movement. Today her story continues to inspire the next generation of leaders to end racism together one step at a time."

On Tuesday, November 14, Elementary students will celebrate Ruby Bridges, honoring her bravery and activism through class projects. Last year, the children from Karin's Upper Elementary visited the other Elementary classrooms to share this idea. This year, each Elementary classroom will send two representatives to a primary classroom to share her story and message, fighting racism and preventing bullying.
Board of Directors
We would like to express our gratitude to Peter Starkel, who has just completed his term as Chair of our Board of Directors. He will continue to serve as a member of the Board and his dedication to TCH is sincerely appreciated.
We welcome Jessica Sullivan into the role of Board Chair. Jessica served as on the board in the past, leaving the board in 2019 after six years of service. Jessica continues to serve our community in so many ways and we’re glad to have her return to the board once again.
Our board is committed to continuous improvement to ensure the stability and sustainability of our school. They support and are attentive to the work of the Strategic Plan and provide fiscally responsible direction and oversight. See our Board of Directors page to learn more.

Registration deadline for Girls Basketball (4th-5th grade) is October 13
It is going to be a great season, where the girls will learn a lot of basketball skills and be on an awesome school team. We have two coaches, one who played D1 basketball! Learn more here.
New! Comets Robotics Club
The Club will meet on Mondays from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on November 6, 13, and 27, December 4 and 11, with a showcase for families and friends on Wednesday, December 13.
Love ROBOTS? Have a passion for MAKING? Ready to dip your toe in the world of CODING? This weekly club for TCH 3rd through 5th-year learners will focus on building and coding unique robots in an after-school setting that is non-competitive, hands-on, and always fun. TCH parents, Caroline Maier and Jennifer Smith have volunteered to coach a Robotics club for younger students to share that STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) is accessible for all. The all-new Navigators Robotics Club will meet after school, from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. at our Park Street Campus on Mondays beginning October 16. Learn more here.

“Chill Out” Fridays At Hickory Hills
Tired of looking for activities during the winter for your kiddos? Want to get outside with other TCH families and enjoy the snow? Join us every Friday beginning in in January 24’ for “Chill Out” Fridays at Hickory Hills, 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. This is a chance to have your TCH kiddos ski or snowboard, and connect with other TCH families, eat some food, and celebrate the end of the week around a bonfire.
